Indeed, it was. a 200 wager.  RROC has a decent version of the story.
Th Barnatos have quite a history, his father was lost overboard
returning to England.  Good stories about his bargaining with Cecil
Rhodes.  Woolf's uncles worked with MI-5 funding a cover for one of
their spy networks (London Films).
