[ROVERNET - UK] 3500S power steering filter

I went to change the filter on the power steering and after taking off the 
the nut and unsuccessfully trying to pull up the top, then lightly tapping 
it up with a rubber hammer........i gave up...........is there a secret to 
this or is it just sealed to the rubber gasket............i didn't want to 
screw it up and finding nothing in the book about it i figured i'd ask the 
panel here....
