Hi
You are using the correct coil?
Excessive spark and corona discharge could develop if you are using a
coil that requires a ballast resistor without the resistor.
Check for moisture inside the cap and also look for tracking from the
coil turret to it's body or low tension terminals. (It may be more
visible at night.)
