R: [ROVERNET - UK] Outer sills - Black but which black?

Yep,
Aluminum painted black, pop riveted, panel fixed to
the bottom edge of the front fenders.  Seen it-
couldn't understand it.  Why not just paint it?  I
understood that the idea was to change the looks of
the line of the car - go figure!
