[ROVERNET - UK] Scotts Old Rubber order

Dirk Burrowes dirk at vy-tek.com

Hi all,
I posted earlier this week that I was placing a big order with Scott's old
rubber. Scott has gotten back to me and figures that he will have my order
together within the next few weeks.

So anyone who wants to hitch a ride with my order needs to get their order
in with Scott real soon. In fact he is online tonight. The deal is this, you
order and pay Scott directly and note that it is to be included in my order
Scott will separately label and bag your orders. Assuming the items you are
ordering are rubber parts and not thousands of dollars worth of stuff then I
am paying for the freight to my company in Mass. I will re-box your orders
and send them to you UPS COD for the domestic shipping charges (should not
be a lot for ground shipment)
Please send me an email with the contents of your orders and your shipping
addresses and phone number.

Be advised that I am having this sent sea freight so it could take 45 days
on the water and either quickly or slowly through customs. So if you need
something faster then this then this is not for you.

By the way I spoke to Ruth recently in Canada and she said that there is an
unprecedented amount of P6 restoration work going on in North America.
So it should not be to long before we can all get together for the National
Rover car meet.

Hope everyone is well
Dirk

Perhaps I missed some of this thread...Is it about fitting a Rover 3500
into a Satg engine bay? I've seen it done twice:
The first time badly...with a big hole cut in the bonnet/hood to allow
the air cleaners to poke thru.
The second time brilliantly....A Range rover sump was used as this
is/was apparently shallower. It was a twin carb model and the inlet
manifold had been cut, shortened and rewelded and I believe some engine
mounts custome made or at least adapter plates made up. The engine sat
in the bay beautifully.

The Stag conversion uses some rather restritive headers. I have
pictures of these if anyone is interested.

I put a Chevy 327 V8 into a Cortina, what a waste. I
did give a V8 Vega a run for his money as well as a
big block Malibu.

On that subject............ We (RCCA) were recently contacted by a
gentleman in Perth WA who has been an avid collector of automotive
literature and memorabilia for 40 years. Unfortunately he recently had
over 3,000 pieces, including lots of Rover stuff, stolen.

If anyone sees an unusually large amount of this on Ebay or anywhere
else for that matter, could they please get in touch with me.

Cheers,

Peter H

That's terrible...

I've been collecting literature myself semi-seriously since I was a wee
lad and I'm now 35. I got a few things about ten years ago from the US,
including a 2000 brochure extolling the virtues of its safety, a couple
of 3 Litre items that were (bizarrely) shaped and decorated like Easter
eggs, a couple of brochures for the (much Rovernet discussed) NADA 3500S
showing the boot (okay... trunk) full of melons and the SD1 with round
headlights and the (unusual for the rest of us) three spoke steering wheel.

Does anyone know the name of the guy whose literature was stolen? I may
know of him or be able to let a few other enthusiasts here know about
it as I used to run the Motor Museum of WA, from 1995 to 1998 and the
local scene is quite incestuous (sp?) as we are probably the most
isolated city in the world!

I'd like to be able to help!

Cheers
