[ROVERNET - UK] "Restoring" Rovers, Market Value, et cetera

That's a little over $15k USD and I would not think that unreasonable
for a really nice P5, although I suspect there is more demand for them
in Australia than in the UK. I think that number is above "market value"
(in the USA, there isn't really a market value because too few change
hands), but $15k USD is not an astronomical figure for any car that is
in really nice shape. I don't have $15k, but lots of other people do. I
think that falls into the region where if you got the cash, just get
what you like. When you get above $25,000 for a typical 50-60-70's
Rover, that's getting a bit obscene. My opinion is that you can by a
very, very nice Rover in the USA for between $4,000 and $7,000 USD and
often much less, if you are patient. That would be a car that has a nice
original interior, decent paint, no rust and roadworthy. Of course, you
can't restore a car that's really gone for that kind of money.

And, as many of us know, two or three or four Rovers are sometimes
cheaper than one Rover when someone is under pressure from a spouse or
the executor of an estate!

A bit of this, a bit of that...
