[ROVERNET - UK] Rover Cabriolet P6 and SDI parts

Hi all,

I have been having a email correspondence with the owner of the only true
Graber Rover cabriolet convertible made for the
1966 Geneva motor show. I was reading the P6 news from February 05 and
noticed that in the front the car was listed as being for sale.
It turned out that the seller was in Canada so I called him. He called me
back and was a very nice gentleman named Hans.
He told me about how his father saw the car at the show and made it his
mission to own it. So in 1966 they got the car.
It has been in his family in Switzerland for the last 40 years perfectly
maintained. His father had passed in 1980
and his brother had been looking after the car there but felt it was time to
pass it on. So the president of the
Swiss Rovers club bought it. Boy I wish I had seen it. But I am very happy
that it has been passed on to a true believer.
The new owner even loaned it back to the original family this summer so that
his grand daughter could be carried away at her wedding.

What other car other then Rover can stir passions like this????

I have now become friends with this Gentlemen and believe it or not he is
restoring a P6 3500s to North American
standards so I am helping him find parts. If any one has a front and rear
license plate holder I need both for him.
Please email me and let me know how much. It does not need to be in great
condition as he plans to rechrome them.

I am giving serious consideration to visiting him next summer as now I have
it my mind to build a replica of the car.

I have some wonderful pictures of the car that really show the true beauty
of this car so if anyone would like me to forward them
send me a email.

SDI parts:

I have sent a email to Mr. Shanker requesting photos and details.
I have told him if he is real I will send one of our representatives in
Indian to inspect what he really has.
I now expect to hear nothing as this is most likely a scam. But if I do I
will share with all.

Dirk Burrowes

Has anyone checked to see the path of this email from the CKD(Completely
knocked Down) kit sellers to see where they are.?Also have the sellers
posted photos of of what is for sale? That would seem normal business
procedure.(Though photos could be 20 years old). Perhaps when the Nigerian
Barrister sends me my share of the deceased American Engineer's Millions, or
I Receive the Intenational Lottery money I just won in yesterday's emails, I
would contact them. Someone in their neighborhood needs to drop in for a
look; just take some security along and watch your back. James Dean

I am more encouraged that James is thinking along the
same lines as myself.

Having been to India and seeing first hand how things function there, I find
this a lot more plausible than the aforementioned scams. This could be for
real, but certainly anyone interested would want to inspect the merchandise
first. I would be somewhat concerned about tin worm after all this time.

They built the SD1 as a the Standard 2000 there, if you have a look at The
unofficial Austin Rover pages they have info on them:
http://austin-rover.co.uk/

Click on [Also known as....] on the left column
then [Other models] at the bottom of the main page and it'll be at the
bottom. It was a pretty rough piece of conversion though.

Steven D
