The Jag rear is a Dana 44 which is strong , but not what anyone one would
call bullet-proof. I have Scouts with them and they CAN be broken. I
thought of utilizing a 44 w/posi from one of my Scouts in my Datsun powered
Midget if the diff that was making noise was not repairable. The tubes and
axles of the 44 are easily shortened to get the correct track width. It
would be unbreakable behind a 1500 motor in a light car. A local here put
a Jag set-up in his MGA behind a hot 302, so it could be done. It was
expensive and time consuming and the independent feature probably makes the
car no faster on a track.
