I have seen different caps on them, but the other dimensions are the same.
The thing that changed on 3500s is the mounting bracket, it is Much
stronger/more rigid.

Thanks for the info.  I have replaced the steering damper because the old
one was cracked and made a noise when turning.  But I must admit I don't
recall checking the oil level, which I will do now.  I also didn't know it
would cause noise over bumps.  Regarding dampers, there seem to be at least
two designs, both will fit but one is a bit smaller in overall dimensions.
I assume these are all the same internally and have the same damping
constant, etc?
