[ROVERNET - UK] P6 Brakes - even more ??s

I think we should have a separate discussion group just for P6 rear brakes!
After having done it once, on my back with minimal clearance and not
removing the drive shafts from the diff I will say that 'yes' it can be done
but with many a cuss and plenty of black stuff dropping onto the face etc.
Oh how I wish I had either a hoist or a pit - and I'm seriously thinking
about the latter. There is no easy or right way. Just take your time and try
to remain patient - and try to ensure there is no-one nearby who is easily
offending by bad language! I do have to say that I would not have had the
courage to attempt this job without the advise offered by members of this
group. Thank you.

I have removed the rear brakes several times without disassembling the diff.
Disassemble as much as you can: remove handbrake, take out pads, remove
lines. If I remember correctly the right side brake can be slid off and
around first, then the left. I think I have left the flexible connecting
hose installed, as it is hard to install once the brakes are back on. Not
easy, but a lot easier than dropping the diff and half shafts.

Hi Guys
Yes I had found the locking tabs , and flattened them before my cry for
help . I bought a Canadian Tire breaker bar this afternoon
, but had trouble getting it into position . I would have done better if I
had access to a lift . I finally shifted 4 of the nuts
with a combination of heat and the impact wrench . I will try Ruth's trick
of a big hammer and a drift tomorrow .
As an aside can any one explain why some E Bay vendors will not ship
outside of the continental USA . Canada is only just the other
side of the " world's longest undefended border " We are supposed to have
free trade agreement , which in theory should work both
ways ?
Cheers
 Patrick
