AFAIK, auto transmissions have an accumalator valve
that takes up the "shock" from going into gear, either
reverse or drive. It may be that the accumalator is
sticking in it's bore. It has a spring to take up the
shock. Usually located between the valve body and goes
into the case. Here's a picture of one.
