I just got this request:

"Dear Rudiger, I live in Toronto, Canada. Do you know of any P6's in Canada
or the U.S.A. which are
in good shape and
might be for sale in the near future? Best Regards, Craig"

Any offer / idea?

I would forward replies to Craig.

Thanks

Hi Jan,
I assume you are using the fuel injection system that came
on the 1988 Range Rover and that the ECU is the "4CU" type
in use in the UK at that time. This system has many
similarities to the 4CU system used on NAS SD1's but one
major difference. The NAS ECU's were made to work with
catalytic converters (I think that is true of the
Australian market cars as well). The NAS ECU's will not
work on UK/Euro systems without cats. Other than that,
the faults are the same.

Yes, you may use a points type distributor as a substitute
for your electronic unit provided you also use the points
type coil and ballast resistor (or suitable resistance
wire). I have run K&N filters on the 4CU system in the
past with no problems.

Roverly,
Kent K.

Oops, sorry. I did have a vague impression that the NAS units may have
been different ...

With both my SD1 and Rangie, I mounted the amplifier remotely with a kit
and shielded leads to keep it out of the hot radiator air blast.
Problems ceased.

The grey cell that held the information on the kit I used has since died
(along with many of his mates), sorry.

The unit is pictured, lower left, here in the Rangie...
http://members.ozemail.com.au/~defender110@ozemail.com.au/mypage/images/airp
ump.JPG

I eventually solved all the SD1 problems by replacing the
* ECU
* Air flap intake sensor
* injector ballast resistor box
by fitting a Haltech digital fuel control unit.

Oh yes ... replacing the Federal flat pleneum with a *real* plenum and
an attached 4.6L made a little difference as well.
;-)

Cheers

Dave has a sense of humor, too.

I am nearing completion of a long term project (insanity?)
 5.1 litre/ST400 (dual stall converter) in SD1. Have
eliminated all problems ahead of firewall...iron block and
heads, no A/C, 600cfm Carter carb, HEI dizzy, Corvette
radiator, four pot calipers, vented discs and MANUAL rack.
 I will need the forearms of a gorilla to steer it, but
all the roads in west Texas are straight, right?

Does anyone have a decent set of SD1 carpet?

Roverly,
Kent K.

Hi Kent,

Sounds like you have created a monster :). I have the blue carpet put
aside and possibly a better match for your car is the dark brown carpet
but it is still in the 2300S parts car. If you can't come up with
anything locally I can send this over next year,
