[ROVERNET - UK] P6B Rover: Options for roof finish

Hello Peter

I always wondered about the roof! I'm guessing that it was fitted by the 
dealer at sale rather than at the NZ factory though. As far as I know 
the facelift 3500S (UK built) models were the only model fitted with a 
vinyl roof as standard (to help differentiate them from the automatics) 
and you had a choice of  two vinyl colours, depending on what the main 
body colour was: Ebony (black) or Huntsman (tan). There's always 
exceptions though and if you wanted one you could probably ask for it. I 
think the final UK P6Bs known as the 3500 VIP came with a vinyl roof  
and the body colours were the SD1 gold or silver - I think one of them 
was called Platinum... someone out there is sure to know more?

Maybe the roof was vinyl covered to make the sunroof fitment look neater?
