[ROVERNET - UK] Wavy ampmeter

It is moving rapidly between charge and discharge. It is not periodic, nor
does the frequency vary with engine RPM. The alternator diodes appear to be
working and the output of the alternator is DC.

More info needed - is it flicking in to discharge, or oscillating regularly,
what is the period of oscillation etc.

The amp meter in my NADA 1970 3500S is wavy. It starts out smooth and then
varies rapidly between charge and discharge. The battery is fine but the
charge/discharge causes the lights to flicker at night and is very
distracting. I have changed the Lucas 11ac alternator, Lucas 4tr voltage
regulator, battery, and checked most of the wiring. I can't seem to find the
problem.

Does anyone have any experience with this type of problem?

Any advice would be welcome.

Thanks,

Tony
