Hi Nathan,

I have used AAA auto transport about dozen times over the last year and they
are pretty good folks. They are brokers but you can work with them to get a
price you want and they have a fixed price they charge $100 for there fee.

Call Dwight at 712 275 9023 tell him Dirk sent you

Good Luck
Dirk

Way beyond insanity. The Meteor is a tank or transporter engine, but I
seem to remember both V8 and V12 versions and can't tell from the
pictures which this is. Definitely genuine Rover.

I have a carpet set for my 67 Rover 2000 TC (NADA) from Wadhams. I was
wondering how easy they are to install. I paid for the upholsterer to
install the new carpet in my other Rover, but I was thinking that it might
be worth while to fit the carpet myself. Any thoughts or comments from
people who have fitted carpets would be great.

Hi David,

Actually, it would depend on the car. P4-brown, green, or grey; P5 (Mk.
III or V8)-tan or buckskin; P6 Series 2, almost anything; SD1 Series 1,
almost anything. I saw a NZ SD1 Series 1 interior in one of Miles'
parts cars. It is much nicer than any of the UK interiors up until the
'81 VDP. Unfortunately the freight from NZ is a killer, but it may be
cheaper than having interiors done locally. A chap in San Antonio did a
rather nice job on my P5B but the seats alone were US$1200 in vynil.
What have you got?

Rovereupholsteredly,
Kent K.

If using spray glue, use 3M 8090, Heavy duty trim adhesive, not 8080, which
is light duty.Use good ventilation.Keep shaking the can occasionally Save
the nozzle of the first spray can, and throw it in a can of lacquer thinner;

they can clog. spray it on both surfaces. I don't know if you got a jute set

with the carpets, but for 10 years, I have used half inch lead foam in all
my restorations. It is thicker than jute, so you must cut and fit; and tape
the seams. but it absolutely stops sound; creates an uncannily quiet car. It

has lead encapsulated, between layers of closed cell foam, and silver mylar

on one side. It works equally well on heat. I sell it, Contact me offline,
or see it on the Austin Healey section of my eBay store, Old English Motor
Company.It is $60 for  one sheet,12 square feet. You would need 3-4 sheets;
an Austin Healey takes 3 sheets, including the back. It is designed for
large motor yachts, where the owner doesn't want to hear the diesel drumming

away two feet from his head, through the bulkhead , as he sleeps.James

I am having trouble with the timing chain tensioner on my Rover 2000TC which

I am reassembling. The timing chain tensioner I have is a Renolds
tensioner, and there is no hole in the side of it, to release the spring
tension, as per the instructions in the manual. I can fit the tensioner
okay, but I cant work out how to release the tension in the sping. Any
suggestions would be most helpfull.

Regards,

James Radcliffe.

James,
I have two types of tensioners. The original worked
like this:
1. Unscrew the hexagonal head cover plate
2. Use a hexagonal Allen key (you have to determine
which one) and insert it into the recess you created
above.
3. Turning the screw one way pulls the pad in and
turning the other way, turns the pad out.

The non-adjustable type required me to use some light
string (in case some fell into the sump) to tie the
pad backwards and close to the assembly. (What a
nuisance - why couldn't they all be as original :-(

Kent, hmmm, is this truck still available? I could
really use a pickup truck. If all it needs is a bed
and those are easy to find, maybe worth a flight out
there to get and drive back. Of course with over 100
degrees in the southwest....don't suppose it has a/c
too? ;-)

Greetings, all-

I was wondering if I could tap into the
collective wisdom of the Rovernet and see if anyone
could recommend a (dream on?) reliable, reasonably
priced car transportation company. I may need to get a
non-drivable p6 from the East coast to the Midwest. I
hate to pick a transportation service at random out of
Hemmings or something. I'm sure some of you must have
experience with this and I'd appreciate any thoughts,
advice or suggestions people have to offer.

Thanks,

Nathan

I would try www.Uship.com most people who advertise are brokers who post to
a bulletin board and drivers pick up the shipment, so you never know who
your getting.

All the best
