[ROVERNET - UK] electric dipper switches

Has anyone had experience with electric dipper mechanisms - the ones 
mounted in the headlight surround and push the reflector and bulb 
assembly up and down?
Mine sounds like a cranky cricket - and i am sure it is not supposed to 
be powered up all the time.  It would get pretty hot and I fear a burn out.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
Tomorrow night is start-up night for the rover 10.
