Lee,

My knowledge of this is all from books, but the books say no overdrive
from the factory for the 95. I would think it would have been a
no-brainer to install back in the day, but I doubt it came from the
factory like that, especially since the 95 and 110 had different rear
end ratios. As most of us know, the P4 had generally been manufactured
as a less expensive 4-cylinder variant and a more expensive 6-cylinder
variant. Rover had not intended to manufacture the P4 in 1964 but the P6
was not yet ready for production. The 95 and 110 were carry-overs. The
problem was that they had the same 6-cyl engine which I think was a 2.6
liter motor derived from the newer 3 liter block with all of the
improvements that came with the newer motor. Rover did not think it
worthwhile to engineer the P6 4-cyl for the short-run 95/110 line or
needed all available engines for the P6, so they used the 2.6 liter
6-cyl in both. The only way to distinguish the two models was to
"decontent" the 95 by simply leaving things off. Therefore, it did not
get the new Weslake head developed for the P5, the overdrive or the pull
handles. If you wanted these luxuries, you had to buy a 110. I'll bet
they didn't offer overdrive on the 95 even as an option because they
were trying to push people upmarket into the more expensive 110. It
would have been self-defeating to let people option up the 95.

But this is all book-learning. Someone in the UK may have a dealer's
invoice showing an overdrive option on a 95, for all I know.
