[ROVERNET - UK] Reminder - Fritz's car in Arkansas P5 3 Litre

Hi Eric,
I have mixed feelings about this car. The workmanship is first class,
but the seats are not restored to the original patern. Note the built
in head restraints. The DG transmission, also known as the "Three band"
is used on all Mk. I and II P5's (and Studebakers from '50-mid '55,
Jaguars and probably Rootes group from the mid fifties until.... Mk.
III's and P5B's use the Borg Warner Type 35 as found in P6B's. Any DG
box can be made to work in the Mk. II, but I'm not sure if the problem
requires parts or just an adjustment. If it needs parts, what parts
does it need? Diane's problem is that there is no one knowledgible who
is anywhere close (it's a fourteen hour drive for me). It could need
only an adjustment. Any replacement of the trans will require pulling
the engine. If I had the car, I would consider changing to a standard
trans. I have all the parts to do it. Is it only a car for a mechanic?
I thought all Rovers were only cars for mechanics. Yes, it is repairable.

Roverly,
Kent K.
