[ROVERNET - UK] Lumpy idle

I've completed a rebuild of my 2000TC engine before starting on the 2200
overbored motor for my other 2000TC.........I wanted to try a few things on
this engine before starting the other..........One of the things was
lightening the flywheel.................The regular flywheel weighed in at
21.6 lbs.............I've had it shaved and lightened and balanced to 15 lbs
which did not look too radical.......(LOL not after i seen a guys Mazda
flywheel at 5.5 lbs for racing)....albeit i've lost half of the EP , TDC ,
and 6 degree stamped markings........I did not do anything else to the crank
or rods and pistons......ie lighten or balance them...(money to play with
practice motor ran out LOL) ....Now up and driving it i'm very happy with
the response...........it seems to spool up much quicker(no more power but
it gets there quicker i believe)..........I'm now thinking with the overbore
and added torque that this will be a worthwhile endevour............One
drawback is the idle is not as smooth as it was .......not bad but
lumpier........but i'll be playing with the timing and the carbs to see if
it gets better........ They were rebuilt last year so i'm ruling them
out.......Not balancing everything might also have contributed to this idle
but i will be doing that for the 2200 overbore motor.............I'll keep
everyone informed as to my final evaluation but for now i'm quite happy

An aside to the chap with the hot idle problem in the 3500............Try a
bottle of Red Line Water Wetter in the rad added to your coolant......The
stuff works great and really lets the engine run cooler................Cheap
and worth a try .........Regardless the engine runs cooler

Happy Rovering
