Hi Larry:

Take the gas tank out of the car. If you have a pressure washer,
clean out the tank with some strong cleaner.  If you don't have
a pressure washer, take the tank to someone that has a steam
cleaner.  After the tank is cleaned out, and sits a few days to
dry out look inside and see what condition it's in.  If it's clean
install it.  If not, buy some of the liquid unleaded coating material
that is made for coating the inside of fuel tanks, and follow the
instructions.  Then install the tank.  Good luck!
