Hi,
  It's reasonably straight forward, you don't even have to remove the
bonnet.  On series II cars the bottom of the windscreen is supported by
a metre plus long steel channel which is lined with rubber.  New rubber
is available from Scott's.  Also fit a new lower windscreen seal while
you're at it.

You can use silicone to fix the seal to the frame but use non setting
glass sealant to fit the glass to the seal.  Silicone is a pain to get
off glass.
