Technically and legally, the printer is correct. Practically, just 
find another printer.

If you were going to be printing 100,000 shirts and selling them, 
that might get the copyright owner's interest, but for small time 
things, particu;arly when there is a club or such involved and the 
case could be made that the copyright owner actually benefits with 
goodwill, the chance of prosecution is between slim and none.
