That fuel tank should be the same as the P6b as well...however it is
possible that there is an extra vent line. I know that years ago we used
to use a gravel and water wash to remove loose rust and dirt...(Many
here may recall as well) It does work well and if the tank is that bad
you will need to replace it just the same.
Shipping will be the main cost of the tank...the basic tank should not
cost more than $ 50.00 CDN plus shipping. It's still a risk that the
tank you get will be in the early stages of rusting without anyone
knowing the better...I don't think you can see clearly enough inside the
tank.

Regards

 Dennis

Dear Dennis,

there is the smell - not so much - but the worst problem is
another.
The tank should be rusted inside and very very dirty, because very
often, in the last months, the engine stopped only few moments after the
ignition.
It stopped also when driving.
I use the car quite rarely, but I never had that problem before.

We checked everything ( pump, which is ok, carburettors, etc.) and the
carburettors, and the gasoline filter, were very dirty.
Now, according to the mechanic, the tank should be the cause.
By the way, about three or four years ago the pump was leaking and was
repaired, I bought the kit.
The gasket was broken, but it was also full of dirt.

A friend of mine had the same problem with an old Jaguar XJ, and he had
to change the tank after he tried to repair it: completely rusted.

Now the tank has to be washed with two solvents and then it must be
treated with tankerite, wich produces a quite thick film on the inner
side.
If there is a hole, of course, you' ll have to repair it.

This treatment is well- known in Italy, but quite expensive.
I was wondering which were twe price of a new tank, of course with the
shipping.

		Best regards, gianluca.

Have you actually found the leak or is it a case of smelling fuel and
suspect a leak ?? The reason I ask is there is a possibility it can be a
venting problem...Just a thought ..

Dear Listmates,

the tank of my TC is leaking, so I have to find a new
replacemento or to repair it with Tankerite, which is quite expensive.

Which could be the price of a new tank for my 1973 Rover 2000 TC ? Any
ideas? I imagine shipping to Italy would be quite expensive...

Any suggestion and information will be appreciated.

Best regards and thanks in advance, Gianluca Ruotolo.
