Item Description:
Up for bidding is a 1964 Rover 2000, the car that, together with the Triumph 2000, changed the world. The Rover opened the floodgates for the atrocity that is known as the BMW 3 series, and all such similar cars. The Rover 2000 is THE original executive sports saloon.

A marvel when current, it redefined what the public expected in cars. Quality of build, safety, luxury, and engineering excellence was no longer the preserve of large cars.

This particular example has been much loved, but has fallen on hard times. It deserves to be rescued.

Structurally extremely sold, with the exception of the boot floor. Panel work generally good, except for the right side doors, which need to be replaced. Interior is tired, but complete.

Brakes have been rebuilt (flex lines, calipers, master), retaining the original Dunlop calipers. These were sleeved in stainless steel, a very expensive exercise. Now, the booster requires attention.

Suspension and steering appear excellent on road.

Gearbox recently rebuilt, clutch replaced.
Engine supposedly rebuilt by previous owners, though now suffering from blown head gasket. Though there is no water in the oil, so no further damage. Was running extremely sweetly prior to the leakage, lending weight to possibility of rebuild.
Timing chains and tensioners have been replaced recently.
This is essentially a good, solid car, with which to commence restoration - or, with head gasket and servo replaced, could be a reliable daily classic hack.

Spare head is included with the car should it be required.

This must surely be amongst the very earliest P6s in existance.
